Understanding the grain growth mechanism in CdS thin films by CdCl2 treatment and thermal annealing evolution

Suman Kumari et al.

Summary: The study explored the micro-structural, morphological, optical, and electrical properties of post chloride-treated CdS thin films, showing improvements in crystallinity, crystal size, and optical performance. The treated films exhibited ohmic behavior and a direct optical energy band gap in the range of 2.09-2.38 eV, making them potential candidates for efficient window layers in Cd-based solar cell devices.

Calculation of relative fluorescence quantum yield and Urbach energy of colloidal CdS QDs in various easily accessible solvents

Debasmita Kandi et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that among the colloidal CdS quantum dots prepared in four common solvents capped with thioglycolic acid (TGA), those in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) exhibited the highest relative fluorescence quantum yield, reaching 93%. Additionally, Urbach energy was calculated to provide insight into the density of states in the CdS quantum dots.
