A computational model of neurodegeneration in Alzheimer's disease

D. Jones et al.

Summary: This study presents a model of the association between dementia symptoms and degenerative brain anatomy using F18-fluorodeoxyglucose PET and dimensionality reduction techniques. The authors propose a global information processing model for mental functions that links neuroanatomy, cognitive neuroscience and clinical neurology. They also apply the model to normal aging and other degenerative diseases of mental functions.

Imaging features associated with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus have high specificity even when comparing with vascular dementia and atypical parkinsonism

David Fallmar et al.

Summary: This study found a high specificity of imaging markers usually associated with iNPH even when compared with challenging differential diagnoses such as VaD and atypical parkinsonism like PSP. The callosal angle was identified as the imaging feature with the highest diagnostic accuracy in discriminating iNPH from its mimics. A simplified rating scale using a few selected features could be used with retained specificity.
