MFI, BEA and FAU zeolite scavenging role in neonicotinoids and radical species elimination

M. Milojevic-Rakic et al.

Summary: This study investigated the environmental importance of zeolites MFI, FAU, and BEA through their spectroscopic, adsorptive, and antioxidant responses. It was found that FAU zeolite exhibited the best performance in both insecticide adsorption and radical-scavenging capabilities. The proposed mechanism for zeolite adsorption of insecticides relies on hydrogen bonding with hydroxyl/siloxane groups, suggesting their potential application in ecotoxic species removal.

How to Obtain Maximum Environmental Applicability from Natural Silicates

Daliborka Popadic et al.

Summary: In this study, unmodified natural silicates were tested as adsorbents for organic pollutants in water. Bentonite showed the highest adsorption capacity, removing up to 237 mg/g of pollutants. The treated adsorbent was also found to be effective as an electrode material for oxygen reduction, achieving a significant removal rate of Methylene Blue through electrochemical treatment.

Novel Au-tetrahedral aptamer nanostructure for the electrochemiluminescence detection of acetamiprid

Yemin Guo et al.

Summary: An ultrasensitive and selective electrochemiluminescence (ECL) aptasensor with Au-tetrahedral aptamer nanostructure (Au-TAN) was developed for acetamiprid detection. By optimizing the pH of the buffer solution, the concentration of H2O2, and the concentration of Au-TAN, a detection limit lower than other sensors was achieved. The weak alkaline environment explored in the experiment further expanded the application range of the sensor, showing high accuracy and sensitivity.

The environmental impact of potassium tungstophosphate/ZSM-5 zeolite: Insight into catalysis and adsorption processes

Anka Jevremovic et al.

Summary: The environmental implementation of novel composite materials containing potassium tungstophosphate (KPW) and ZSM-5 zeolite showed improved stability and activity in ethene production and pesticide removal. The study found that the binding of KPW to ZSM-5 zeolites affects the formation of active centers for catalytic and adsorption processes. Different approaches to implementation revealed that a lower Si/Al ratio in zeolite promotes efficient K+ exchange, leading to the formation of isolated sites of superior activity for both catalytic and adsorptive procedures.

Serum concentrations of neonicotinoids, and their associations with lipid molecules of the general residents in Wuxi City, Eastern China

Qianyu Chen et al.

Summary: This study revealed relatively high detection frequencies of four neonicotinoid insecticides in serum samples of general residents in Wuxi city, Eastern China, along with significant correlations between NNI levels and population characteristics such as age, smoking, and health status. Additionally, significant correlations were observed between the concentrations of selected NNIs and levels of specific lipid molecular species.

Comparative assessment of pesticide adsorption capacity and antioxidant activity of Silver Dodecatungstophosphate/HBEA zeolite composites

D. Janicijevic et al.

Summary: A novel composite material consisting of silver salt of dodecatungstophosphoric acid and HBEA zeolite has been developed for efficient removal of glyphosate pesticide and modulation of antioxidant activity. The two-step impregnation method results in advanced composite materials with evenly distributed active sites for glyphosate adsorption and radical-scavenging activity. The original Krishnamurti isotherm fits the pesticide adsorption data, indicating cooperative adsorption of glyphosate on partly saturated adsorbents sites.

Visible light driven photocatalytic degradation of aqueous acetamiprid over nitrogen and graphene oxide doped ZnO composites

Carolina Sayury Miyashiro et al.

Summary: The study investigated the photocatalytic degradation of acetamiprid in aqueous solutions under visible light by using bare ZnO as well as N- and N-GO-doped photocatalysts. Results showed that N-GO-ZnO exhibited the highest photocatalytic performance, achieving complete degradation of acetamiprid after 5 hours of reaction at ambient temperature. In comparison, no photocatalyst, bare ZnO, and N-doped ZnO materials reached conversion rates of 12%, 38%, and 68%, respectively, under the same conditions.
