Continuous adjoint complement to the Blasius equation

Summary: This manuscript explores the derivation of a continuous adjoint complement to the boundary-layer equations for a flat plate, as well as the analysis of the coupled primal/adjoint BL framework. The differences between the primal and adjoint Blasius frameworks are discussed, along with the analytical expressions derived for various parameters. The predictive agreement between different Blasius solutions and numerical results for Navier-Stokes simulations is assessed, highlighting challenges with the adjoint formulation when investigating real finite length flat plate boundary layer problems.
