Summary: Limited data is available regarding changes in metabolic parameters in transgender youth on testosterone therapy compared to cisgender females. A retrospective analysis of 42 transgender males on testosterone therapy showed a significant increase in BMI and a decrease in high-density lipoprotein levels after starting testosterone therapy. Longitudinal prospective studies with cisgender controls are necessary to better define the effects of testosterone therapy in adolescents.
