Does scientific interest in the nature impacts of food align with consumer information-seeking behavior?

Ayesha I. T. Tulloch et al.

Summary: Global food supply has significant impacts on nature, but scientific research has shown biases towards emissions and chemical impacts over biodiversity. Despite this, public interest in biodiversity impacts has increased significantly in the past decade, highlighting the importance of investing strategically in this area for building a knowledge base that can inspire sustainable behaviors.

A systematic literature review on meta sustainability labeling e What do we (not) know?

Gabriele Torma et al.

Summary: Sustainability labeling aims to guide consumers towards making sustainable consumption decisions, but faces challenges of information overload and complexity. Meta sustainability labeling has been proposed as a solution, characterized by multi-dimensionality and universal applicability. Despite debates on its effectiveness compared to single-issue labels, research shows that the discussion on meta sustainability labeling is still in its early stages and lacks solid evidence.

Environmental and biodiversity effects of different beef production systems

Verena Angerer et al.

Summary: The study examined the environmental impact of different organic and conventional beef production systems in South Tyrol and compared their effect on biodiversity under Alpine production conditions. Results showed that conventional calf-fattening farms had higher environmental impact compared to organic suckler cow farms and conventional heifer/ox fattening farms. Significant differences were found in land occupation and biodiversity damage potential between organic and conventional production methods. The overall environmental performance of beef cattle husbandry in the Alpine area was found to be satisfactory, with a positive impact on biodiversity.
