Optimization of acrylic-styrene latex-based biofilms as a platform for biological indoor air treatment

Javier Gonzalez-Martin et al.

Summary: A latex-based biocoating was optimized for VOC removal using activated sludge dominated by Patescibacteria. Different components in the mixture affected the removal efficiency differently, with toluene and pinene showing higher removal rates. High water content was beneficial for biocoating performance, while VOC mass-transfer was the main limiting factor for the latex-based biocoating.

Biomethane production from anaerobic co-digestion at wastewater treatment plants: A critical review on development and innovations in biogas upgrading techniques

Luong N. Nguyen et al.

Summary: Anaerobic co-digestion (AcoD) and biogas upgrade have enabled many wastewater treatment plants to become net energy producers. While water scrubbing is currently the most widely used technology, significant market growth in membrane separation has been observed, with further advancements in materials engineering and sciences expected to enhance membrane separation competitiveness in biogas upgrading.

Removal of Siloxanes from Model Biogas by Means of Deep Eutectic Solvents in Absorption Process

Edyta Slupek et al.

Summary: This study screened 20 deep eutectic solvents (DESs) and 6 conventional solvents, and found that TPABr:TEG (1:3) is a highly effective absorption solvent for removing siloxanes from model biogas, with the main driving force being the formation of hydrogen bonds between DES and siloxanes.

Siloxanes removal in a two-phase partitioning biotrickling filter: Influence of the EBRT and the organic phase

Celia Pascual et al.

Summary: The study showed that the total VMS removal decreased from 76% to 49% when the EBRT was reduced from 60 to 15 min in the two-phase partitioning biotrickling filter (TP-BTF). An increase in the share of silicone oil in the recycling mineral medium from 5% to 45% led to an improvement of the total VMS abatement from 35% to 52%.
