One-step integrated sample pretreatment technique by gas-liquid microextraction (GLME) to determine multi-class pesticide residues in plant-derived foods

Xiangzi Jin et al.

Summary: The study combined gas-liquid microextraction technique with dispersive solid phase extraction to establish a one-step sample pretreatment method for rapid analysis of multi-class pesticides in plant-derived foods. The method demonstrated good trueness and precision, successfully quantifying four pesticides in real food samples. The multiresidue analysis feature of GLME has further potential for on-site determination of organic pollutants to safeguard food safety and human health.

Interactions of Ag nanoparticles with humic acid present in surface water

Srijita Basumallick

Summary: This paper reports the aggregation behavior of humic acid (HA) in the presence of silver nanoparticles. The study used dynamic light scattering (DLS) measurement to observe the different sizes of aggregates formed by HA in the presence of silver nanoparticles. The results were explained by the Langmuir-Hinshelwood adsorption model, suggesting the important roles of hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interactions in the formation of HA aggregates.

The effects of temperature and host size on the development of Brachymeria lasus parasitising Hyphantria cunea

Shuo Tian et al.

Summary: The development of Brachymeria lasus is influenced by temperature, with shorter development time at higher temperatures. Offspring performance of B. lasus is positively correlated with host size, with female offspring being larger and living longer. B. lasus has the potential to become an efficient natural enemy for controlling Hyphantria cunea.

Development of an ultrasonic and heat-assisted liquid-liquid extraction method combined with deep eutectic solvent-based dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction for the extraction of some phytosterols from cow milk butter samples

Hassan Ebadnezhad et al.

Summary: An ultrasonic and heat-assisted liquid-liquid extraction method combined with deep eutectic solvent-based dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction procedure was developed for the extraction of four phytosterols from cow milk butters. The method showed high enrichment factors and extraction recoveries, low limits of detection and quantification, and acceptable relative standard deviations. The analytes contents of cow milk butter samples were successfully extracted and quantified with this method.

Hydrophobic liquid-polymer-based deep eutectic solvent for extraction and multi-residue analysis of pesticides in water samples

Hassan Sereshti et al.

Summary: In this study, three new polymer-based deep eutectic solvents were prepared and tested as extraction solvents for 16 pesticides. Among them, [polyethylene glycol]:[thymol] showed the highest extraction efficiency at a molar ratio of 2:1. The comparison between polymeric and non-polymeric DESs indicated that the former had significantly higher extraction efficiencies. The method proved effective in detecting pesticide residues in environmental water samples with good relative recoveries.
