Summary: The study found that water content below 11 wt% does not disrupt the structure of DES, instead acting as a glue-like bridge between DES components. In the range of 11 wt% to 35 wt% water content, desolvation of DES components begins to occur while the DES nanostructure remains intact. When the water content reaches 35 wt%, the DES structure is disrupted, transitioning the system to a DES-in-water solution.

Continuous and pulsed ultrasound pectin extraction from navel orange peels

Summary: This study utilized ultrasound technology to extract pectin from waste orange peels. The results showed that increasing amplitude/power density and decreasing pH can improve the extraction yield of pectin. There was no significant difference in yield between continuous ultrasound and pulse ultrasound modes under the same conditions, but pulse mode consumed less energy.
