Adaptive Huber regression on Markov-dependent data

Jianqing Fan et al.

Summary: This article discusses the study of high-dimensional linear regression in statistics and proposes an Adaptive Huber Regression (AHR) to address the issue of heavy-tailed errors. The author also considers the impact of Markov dependence on AHR and finds that the sample size should be discounted by a factor related to the spectral gap of the underlying Markov chain.

A NEW PRINCIPLE FOR TUNING-FREE HUBER REGRESSION

Lili Wang et al.

Summary: The paper introduces a data-driven principle for choosing the robustification parameter for Huber-type subGaussian estimators, which plays a critical role in the construction of estimators for heavy-tailed and/or skewed data. The proposed method, guided by nonasymptotic deviation analysis, shows good performance in three fundamental problems in high dimensions.

Iteratively reweighted l(1)-penalized robust regression

Xiaoou Pan et al.

Summary: This paper investigates tradeoffs among optimization errors, statistical rates of convergence and the impact of heavy-tailed errors for high-dimensional robust regression with nonconvex regularization. The study reveals that the iteratively reweighted l(1)-penalized adaptive Huber regression estimator satisfies exponential deviation bounds and oracle properties with a weak beta-min condition. Numerical studies support the methodology and theory, showing the need for O(log s + log log d) iterations to reach the oracle estimator under certain conditions.
