Marzieh Miar et al.

Summary: The study investigates the effects of electron-releasing and electron-withdrawing groups at para positions on the molecular structure of synthesized compounds in selected solvents and in the gas phase. Results show that intramolecular interactions between substituents and the electron donor-acceptor centers of the thiazole ring influence the relative stability of the compounds. Charge-transfer possibilities within the molecules are revealed through dipole moment values and energy gaps between occupied and unoccupied molecular orbitals.

Phytochemical profile, antimicrobial, and anti-quorum sensing properties of fruit stalks of Prunus avium L.

E. Onem et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate phytochemical contents and antibacterial properties of Prunus avium L. cultivars Cristalina and 0900 Ziraat, and to elucidate the mechanism of action on the quorum sensing system. Results showed high phenolic content in stalk extracts, especially catechin hydrate and chlorogenic acid. All extracts exhibited inhibitory effects on Gram-positive bacteria, with Ziraat stalk extract showing higher inhibition on swarming motility and biofilm formation. Computational analysis revealed chlorogenic acid in the extracts as a key component binding to QS receptors LasR, RhlR, and PqsR, suggesting a potential mechanism for decreasing virulence factors production.
