Cognitive correlates and baseline predictors of future development of visual hallucinations in dementia with Lewy bodies

Stefania Pezzoli et al.

Summary: VH is common in DLB and has been associated with cognitive alterations. Impairments in visual construction/perception, attention, and visual memory are present in DLB patients with VH. Baseline immediate prose memory performance predicts future development of VH.

Neuroanatomical and cognitive correlates of visual hallucinations in Parkinson's disease and dementia with Lewy bodies: Voxel-based morphometry and neuropsychological meta-analysis

Stefania Pezzoli et al.

Summary: The study found that visual hallucinations in patients with Parkinson's disease and dementia with Lewy bodies are associated with reductions in grey matter volume in certain brain regions, as well as lower verbal immediate memory performance in Parkinson's disease patients.

Functional Brain Connectivity Patterns Associated with Visual Hallucinations in Dementia with Lewy Bodies

Stefania Pezzoli et al.

Summary: The study found that DLB patients with VH showed alterations in functional connectivity compared to those without VH, particularly involving decreased connectivity between the lateral geniculate nucleus, superior parietal lobule, and putamen with the medial frontal gyrus. Additionally, visual areas exhibited a pattern of both decreased and increased functional connectivity, and differences in the default mode network were also observed in DLB patients with VH.
