Effects of trace calcium and strontium on microstructure and properties of Cu-Cr alloys

Muzhi Ma et al.

Summary: Cu-Cr-Ca and Cu-Cr-Sr alloys fabricated by thermo-mechanical treatment showed improved mechanical and electrical properties compared to Cu-Cr alloy. The softening resistance of the alloys was significantly enhanced by the addition of Ca and Sr elements. The high strength of the alloys was mainly attributed to dislocation strengthening and precipitate strengthening.

Correlation between microstructure and mechanical properties in the age-hardenable Cu-Cr-Zr alloy

Kaushal Jha et al.

Summary: The study focused on ageing behavior of Cu-Cr-Zr alloy to determine peak ageing conditions and identify precipitates based on morphology, sizes, and distribution. The temperature dependent flow behavior was evaluated and the role of precipitates in strengthening and work hardening behavior of the alloy was examined through electron microscopy analysis.

Enhanced age-hardening response and mechanical properties of the Mg-Gd-Y-Zn-Zr trace addition

Cen Huang et al.

Summary: The study systematically explored the effects of silver addition on the microstructural and mechanical properties of the Mg-6Gd-3Y-1Zn-0.4Zr alloy. The addition of silver was found to enhance age-hardening response and improve tensile properties, especially in the early aging stage. The alloy with silver showed higher ultimate tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation to failure compared to the silver-free alloy at both room and elevated temperatures.

Zr-containing precipitate evolution and its effect on the mechanical properties of Cu-Cr-Zr alloys

Yibo Du et al.

Summary: The Zr-containing precipitates in the Cu alloy first form coherent Zr-rich atomic clusters on the {111} crystal plane of copper during aging, which then transform into Cu5Zr phase as aging time increases. The contribution of Zr-rich atomic clusters and Cu5Zr precipitates to the yield strength of the alloy is calculated by coherency strengthening and Orowan strengthening, respectively. The total yield strength is very close to the experimentally measured strength.
