Review-MoSe2 Nanostructures and Related Electrodes for Advanced Supercapacitor Developments

Rinky Sha et al.

Summary: Molybdenum diselenide (MoSe2), a two-dimensional layered nano-material, is a promising material for energy storage-conversion applications such as supercapacitors due to its stable properties and good catalytic characteristics. This review discusses the properties and functionalization of MoSe2, as well as its applications in supercapacitors, highlighting its capacitive performances and practicality in real environments. The fundamental charge-storage mechanisms are also explored for better understanding of the relationship between MoSe2 and each supercapacitor.

Boosting pH-Universal Hydrogen Evolution of FeP/CC by Anchoring Trace Platinum

Chuancang Zhou et al.

Summary: To improve the electrocatalytic properties for hydrogen evolution reactions, FeP on carbon cloth was prepared using a two-step process. Additionally, hyperdispersed Pt nanoparticles were designed and fabricated to modify transition-metal phosphides film. The 3D FeP-Pt/CC structure was successfully prepared using electro-deposition. The synthesized samples were characterized by XRD, XPS, SEM and EDS to investigate their crystalline structure, surface morphology and elemental composition. The electrocatalytic performances were evaluated by different methods, showing that the FeP-Pt/CC exhibited high current density and excellent durability.

Flexible rGO-SnO2 supercapacitors converted from pastes containing SnCl2 liquid precursor using atmospheric-pressure plasma jet

Jung-Hsien Chang et al.

Summary: In this study, rGO-SnO2 nanocomposites were fabricated using a nitrogen atmospheric-pressure plasma jet (APPJ) for supercapacitor electrodes. The optimal processing time of 300 s resulted in the best areal capacitance of 97.53 mF/cm(2) with a capacitance retention rate of approximately 85% after a 10,000-cycle test. Additionally, the capacitance increased by 11% after a 1000-cycle bending test, indicating improved performance with mechanical bending.
