Carrier grain boundary scattering in thermoelectric materials

Chaoliang Hu et al.

Summary: Bulk nanostructuring has been a leading strategy for optimizing thermoelectric properties by introducing strong grain boundary scattering, but recent findings have shown that charge carrier transport in some nanostructured materials can be significantly suppressed. Understanding the interaction mechanism of grain boundaries on carrier transport and strategies to enhance thermoelectric performance are crucial. Additionally, using the charge shielding ratio as an indicator to distinguish between different scattering mechanisms is proposed.

Enhanced electrical conductivity and mechanical properties in thermally stable fine-grained copper wire

Qingzhong Mao et al.

Summary: Strength and electrical conductivity are generally mutually exclusive properties in copper wires, but copper wires manufactured using rotary swaging overcome this tradeoff. By directionally optimizing the microstructure, the copper wire exhibits high strength, high electrical conductivity, and thermal stability simultaneously.
