Effects on Photosynthetic Response and Biomass Productivity of Acacia longifolia ssp. longifolia Under Elevated CO2 and Water-Limited Regimes

Muhammad Mansoor Javaid et al.

Summary: The study investigates the effect of elevated CO2 on the growth and photosynthetic responses of Acacia longifolia ssp. longifolia under drought conditions. The results suggest that elevated CO2 mitigates the adverse effects of drought and enhances the recovery of the species. This finding indicates the potential invasion of A. longifolia in new areas under severe climatic conditions.

Mitigating Drought Stress in Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) Through Exogenous Application of β-Aminobutyric Acid

Allah Wasaya et al.

Summary: The study shows that foliar application of 75mM BABA can be an effective option for sunflower growers to increase achene yield and net benefit under drought conditions. This treatment improved physiological traits, yield, and yield-related traits, resulting in significantly higher achene yield compared to other treatments. This finding suggests that foliar application of 75mM BABA may be a practical strategy for combating drought stress in sunflower cultivation.

Amaranthus retroflexus L. (Redroot Pigweed): Effects of Elevated CO2 and Soil Moisture on Growth and Biomass and the Effect of Radiant Heat on Seed Germination

Sandra Weller et al.

Summary: Moisture stress reduces growth and biomass yield of Amaranthus retroflexus, while elevated CO2 levels mitigate the negative impacts of drought on its productivity. Heating seeds at high temperatures significantly decreases germination rates.

Atmospheric CO2 enrichment effect on water use efficiency in chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)

Saurav Saha et al.

Summary: Increasing atmospheric CO2 concentration has significant impacts on crop water relations in kabuli chickpea, resulting in higher leaf water potential and relative leaf water content, but also increased leaf diffusive resistance and canopy temperature. Despite the increase in leaf area compensating for the decrease in diffusive resistance, the seasonal total water usage is similar between enriched and ambient conditions.
