A multidisciplinary intervention to reduce central line-associated bloodstream infection in pediatrics and neonatal intensive care units

Wafaa Seddik Hamza et al.

Summary: This study aims to reduce the high rate of central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs) in high-risk neonates and children through the adoption of standardized quality improvement interventions. The results show a significant reduction in CLABSI rate and duration of central line use after implementing the interventions. Implementation of quality improvement interventions effectively reduces the rate of CLABSI.

Mindful organizing as a healthcare strategy to decrease catheter-associated infections in neonatal and pediatric intensive care units. A systematic review and grading recommendations (GRADE) system

Paola Rosati et al.

Summary: The study aimed to explore the clinical evidence of mindful organizing (MO) in improving teamwork to decrease central-line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) and catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSI) in neonatal and pediatric intensive care units. Results from seven included studies showed a potential decrease in CLABSI rate with MO, but the quality of evidence was low. Further clinical trials are needed to establish the efficacy of MO in reducing infection rates in intensive care settings.

Can central venous access device care bundles and regular feedback reduce central line-associated complications in pediatric patients?

Chanapai Chaiyakulsil et al.

Summary: The study showed that reinforcing CVAD care bundles with direct feedback could significantly reduce complications such as infection and occlusion in children. The intervention had a positive impact on reducing complications, improving care quality for pediatric patients with CVADs.
