Stereotactic radiotherapy for adrenal oligometastases

Simona Borghesi et al.

Summary: Approximately 50% of melanomas, 30-40% of lung and breast cancers, and 10-20% of renal and gastrointestinal tumors metastasize to the adrenal gland. The use of CT, ultrasound, MRI, and 18FDGPET-CT is effective in diagnosing metastatic adrenal involvement. Stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) with multiple fractions is commonly used for local control.

Synthetic Computed Tomography Generation from 0.35T Magnetic Resonance Images for Magnetic Resonance-Only Radiation Therapy Planning Using Perceptual Loss Models

Xue Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the feasibility of synthesizing acceptable sCT images for MR-only radiation therapy planning using an integrated MR-guided linear accelerator. The results showed that the sCTs predicted by the perceptual loss model had improved subjective visual quality compared to those predicted by the MSE loss model. However, both models yielded similar results in terms of MAE, PSNR, and NCC. There were no significant differences in target coverage and dose to organs at risk between the predicted sCTs and the original CT image.

Dosimetric feasibility of hypofractionation for SBRT treatment of lymph node oligometastases on the 1.5T MR-linac

Dennis Winkel et al.

Summary: The study investigated the dosimetric feasibility and plan quality of hypofractionated radiotherapy for patients with lymph node oligometastases using the 1.5T MR-linac system. The results showed that hypofractionated treatment is feasible based on dose criteria and plan quality metrics, but it is important to consider the location of the target relative to critical structures when choosing the fractionation scheme. Meeting all dose criteria in the pre-treatment situation does not guarantee the same outcome during online treatment.

Summary: SBRT-style dosimetry and delivery for APBI is feasible using MR-guidance. Dosimetry data from both single- and three-fraction patients showed that the majority of planning objectives were easily achievable, indicating potential for stricter objectives in future treatments. The average magnitude of setup uncertainties was 1.0 cm +/- 0.6 cm across all treatments, and in the three-fraction trial, the average beam-on duty cycle for the MRI-gated delivery was 83.0 +/- 13.0%. No technical MRgS-APBI related issues resulted in discontinuation of treatment for any patients.
