Effect of Different Yield Criteria and Material Parameter Identification Methods on the Description Accuracy of the Anisotropic Behavior of 5182-O Aluminum Alloy

Kai Du et al.

Summary: A material model that considers the deformation anisotropy of sheet metals, named BBC2005-different work hardening (BBC05-DWH) yield criterion, has been developed, showing more accurate predictions compared to other yield criteria. The model was also used to modify the hardening curve obtained from hydraulic bulging tests, highlighting its effectiveness in predicting material behavior.

An anisotropic constitutive model for forming of aluminum tubes under both biaxial tension and pure shear stress states

Zhubin He et al.

Summary: A enhanced constitutive model was proposed to accurately model the deformation behaviors of complex thin-walled tubular parts under both biaxial tension and pure shear stress conditions. The model was validated and compared with existing anisotropic constitutive models, and its accuracy and efficiency were demonstrated through forming experiments.

Investigation of evolving yield surfaces of dual-phase steels

Yong Hou et al.

Summary: This paper describes the evolving yield behavior of dual-phase steels during plastic deformation under various loading paths, using mechanical tests and digital image correlation techniques. Anisotropic yield criteria were applied to analyze the behavior of these steels, showing that non-associated flow rule significantly improved prediction accuracy of both stresses and r-values simultaneously. The evolution of yield stress and plastic potential surfaces of the steels was illustrated by changing parameters in the yield criterion.

Forming limit prediction by the Marciniak-Kuczynski model coupled with the evolving non-associated Hill48 plasticity model

Fuhui Shen et al.

Summary: This study investigates the numerical prediction of forming limits by combining the Marciniak-Kuczynski localization criterion with an evolving non-associated plasticity model. The results show that both the flow potential and yield locus play a critical role in determining the final localization of the material under study.

BBC05 with non-integer exponent and ambiguities in Nakajima yield surface calibration

Johan Pilthammar et al.

Summary: Reliable sheet metal forming simulations depend on accurate descriptions of real process conditions including material behavior, lubrication systems, tool deformations, press dynamics, and more. Research on material models is crucial for describing these conditions in a reliable way, with the BBC05 model with non-integer exponent offering more flexibility in mathematical description. Implementing such flexible yield surface models can lead to more physically correct material approximations, but may pose challenges in calibration due to ambiguities from a larger number of mathematical variables.

Analytical description of an asymmetric yield function (Yoon2014) by considering anisotropic hardening under non-associated flow rule

Qi Hu et al.

Summary: A new analytical form for yield surface distortion under non-associated flow rule is developed based on the expression of transformed stress invariants, showing the ability to accurately predict material strength differential effect and anisotropic hardening. The material parameters in the analytical form can be directly calculated without the need for optimization processes and interpolation.

Effects of biaxial tensile mechanical properties and non-integer exponent on description accuracy of anisotropic yield behavior

Kai Du et al.

Summary: This study investigated the mechanical properties of materials under different loading paths through uniaxial and cruciform biaxial tensile tests, along with the adjustment ability of yield criteria. Results showed that the parameter identification strategy considering the non-integer exponent significantly improved the ability of the yield criterion to describe anisotropic yield behavior.

Evolving asymmetric yield surfaces of quenching and partitioning steels: Characterization and modeling

Yong Hou et al.

Summary: The yield behavior of different strength grades of Q&P steel and dual-phase steel were compared, showing that Q&P steels exhibit significant strain hardening and anisotropic hardening, while the dual-phase steel does not have these characteristics. Furthermore, a modified yield criterion was developed under non-associated flow rule to accurately describe the asymmetric yield surfaces of the investigated Q&P steels.

Analytical determination of anisotropic parameters for Poly6 yield function

Qi Hu et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the analytical determination of anisotropic parameters for the Poly6 yield criterion, which is mathematically equivalent to the Yoshida2013 yield function. Two different calibration methods were used to analytically calibrate the Poly6 yield criterion under associated flow rule, showing its ability to describe stress and strain distributions as well as material anisotropic behaviors effectively.
