Formulation strategies for mitigating dissolution reduction of p-aminobenzoic acid by sodium lauryl sulfate through diffusion layer modulation

Yiwang Guo et al.

Summary: This study examined two formulation strategies to mitigate the negative effect of sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) on the dissolution of p-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), which are increasing the microenvironment pH and reducing the critical micelle concentration (CMC) of SLS.

Pharmaceutical Lauryl Sulfate Salts: Prevalence, Formation Rules, and Formulation Implications

Yiwang Guo et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the prevalence of the phenomena where anionic surfactant sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) leads to drug precipitation. It affects the kinetics of precipitation and forms insoluble lauryl sulfate salts. The authors suggest that effective mitigation strategies should be implemented in drug development to alleviate its negative impact on drug dissolution.

Elevated performance of the neat, hybrid and composite membranes by the addition of nanoparticles (ZIF-67): A molecular dynamics study

Iman Salahshoori et al.

Summary: Composite membranes formed by blending poly(ether-block-amide) and polyethersulfone, combined with novel metal-organic frameworks such as ZIF-67, show promising results in gas separation applications. The addition of ZIF-67 particles improves the amorphous state, glass transition temperature, and fractional free volume of the membranes, enhancing their thermal resistance and transport properties. Mixed matrix membranes filled with ZIF-67 particles exhibit significantly improved CO2 permeability and selectivity compared to neat and composite membranes, showing potential for industrial applications like natural gas treatment.

Evaluating the rote of a urea-like motif in enhancing the thermal and mechanical strength of supramolecular gels

Daniel Arnar Tomasson et al.

Summary: The study investigated the influence of different intermolecular non-covalent interactions on gelators, finding that hydrogen bonding motif greatly affects gelation properties and that the mechanical and thermal stability of HL2 gelator is higher than HL1. Metal salts disrupt the gel network, while anions do not alter the gelation ability of the gelators.
