Vasopressin in the lateral septum decreases conditioned place preference to amphetamine and nucleus accumbens dopamine release

Macarena F. Garate-Perez et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that modulation of the AVP system in the lateral septum affects the behavioral and neurochemical responses to amphetamine in male rats. Microinjection of AVP in the lateral septum reduces the expression of amphetamine-induced conditioned place preference, decreases neuronal activity and dopamine release in the nucleus accumbens. This suggests that AVP in the lateral septum may inhibit GABAergic projections to the VTA, leading to reduced dopamine activity in the NAc.

Chronic modafinil administration to preadolescent rats impairs social play behavior and dopaminergic system

Valeska Cid-Jofre et al.

Summary: Chronic Mod treatment during preadolescence impairs dopaminergic neurotransmission in NAc and decreases the capacity of rats to perceive rewarding effects of social play. It is important to consider potential effects on social behavior when evaluating Mod to treat ADHD in children and adolescents. Social interactions play a crucial role in neurodevelopment during this particular stage.

Pharmacological blockade of dopamine D1-or D2-receptor in the prefrontal cortex induces attentional impairment in the object-based attention test through different neuronal circuits in mice

Bolati Wulaer et al.

Summary: This study explored the impact of dopamine D1 and D2 receptors in the prefrontal cortex on attention and neuronal activity in various brain regions. Both receptor antagonists induced attentional impairment in a mouse attention test, indicating their association with attention. Neuronal activity analysis revealed selective activation of different brain regions based on receptor types, suggesting distinct roles of dopamine D1 and D2 receptors in attention regulation.
