Copolymerization of aniline and 9 vinyl carbazole: A DFT study

Kirtesh Pratap Khare et al.

Summary: This study investigated the electronic properties and stability of aniline-9 vinyl carbazole copolymer using density functional theory (DFT). The results showed that the copolymer had a lower HOMO-LUMO gap, different density of states, and lower total energy compared to the monomers. This suggests that copolymerization enhances the design capability of electrochemical polymeric sensors for detecting and quantifying anticancer drugs.

Effect of pH on the electrochemical properties of polyaniline nanoparticle suspension in strongly acidic solution: an experimental and theoretical study

Fatemeh Biabangard et al.

Summary: The stable suspension of nanopolyaniline (nPANI) particles shows specific electrochemical behavior under strongly acidic conditions, with a decrease in pH leading to an increase in the number of electrons transferred per particle. Analysis of the data indicated that the maximum surface coverage decreases with the increment of pH, as fitted by the Langmuir adsorption isotherm.

Synthesis and self-assembly of brush-shaped block copolymer structure via ATRP and ROP

Chen Liang et al.

Summary: The study successfully synthesized well-controlled brush-shaped block copolymers of high molecular weight with polystyrene and polylactic side chains. After self-assembly, the copolymers exhibited two immiscible phases, partial crystallization, and a pearlescent appearance with wide band reflection. The reflection in the visible range increased with the decrease in domain spacing as the self-assembly temperature increased, but the reflection wavelength range remained unchanged.

Enhancing biocompatibility of polyaniline-based scaffolds by using a bioactive dopant

Zohreh Daraeinejad et al.

Summary: The role of dopant in the cytotoxicity of polyaniline (PANI) nanofibers was investigated in vitro, focusing on the positive or negative effects of dopants at different concentrations. Replacing camphor sulfonic acid (CSA) with taurine (Tau) in PANI/poly(ethersulfone) (PES) nanofibrous scaffolds resulted in higher cell viability for Tau-doped PANI nanofibers, showing potential for use as a bioactive conductive scaffold in tissue engineering applications. This study marks an important step towards improving the biocompatibility of conductive PANI-based biomaterials.

Marissa D. Morales-Moctezuma et al.

Summary: The use of co-solvents during nanogel synthesis significantly affects the properties of the final nanogels, including particle size and temperature response. Nanogels synthesized in water increase in size with increasing pNIPAM block polymerization, while particle sizes decrease with higher ethanol content in the synthesis solvent. Additionally, the tacticity of copolymers synthesized under similar conditions changes with increasing ethanol content, resulting in increased syndiotacticity and cloud point temperatures.
