Resealed Einstein-Hilbert gravity: Inflation and the Swampland criteria

V. K. Oikonomou et al.

Summary: In this work, a class of f(R,phi) gravity models that result in an effective inflationary Lagrangian with a resealed Einstein-Hilbert term alpha R during the inflationary era is studied. The motivation is to make incompatible canonical scalar field theories compatible with the Swampland criteria, specifically the distance conjecture and the de Sitter conjecture. It is found that some models can simultaneously satisfy the Planck constraints and the two Swampland criteria when the parameter alpha is small.

Purely kinetic k-essence description of cs2(w) barotropic fluid models

Dalibor Perkovic et al.

Summary: The purely kinetic k-essence models are demonstrated to be a field theory equivalent of barotropic fluid models of dark energy or dark matter-dark energy unification in the literature. A systematic procedure of obtaining the Lagrangian density of an equivalent purely kinetic k-essence model is presented in a modeling framework where the speed of sound is modeled as a function of its Equation of State parameter. Solutions for the purely kinetic k-essence Lagrangian density in parametric and closed form are obtained depending on the chosen functional form for the barotropic fluid speed of sound squared.

Unifying inflation with early and late dark energy epochs in axion F(R) gravity

V. K. Oikonomou

Summary: This article introduces a theoretical model of F(R) gravity that can describe inflation, early and late dark energy eras in the presence of a light axion particle as the dark matter component of the Universe. The model exhibits early and late-time dark energy eras, with an early dark energy era followed by a deceleration era and then a late-time dark energy era. A notable feature is the absence of dark energy oscillations in the dark energy era within the redshift interval z = [0, 10]. The model also shows a sudden jump in the value of the Hubble rate within the redshift interval z ≈ [2, 2.6], increasing and then decreasing until z ≈ 0.
