Profiles of primary aromatic amines, nicotine, and cotinine in indoor dust and associated human exposure in China

Sridhar Chinthakindi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the occurrence of 35 primary aromatic amines and two tobacco chemical markers in 119 samples of house dust collected from five provinces in China, finding that most samples contained these chemicals, with higher concentrations in Henan and Shanxi provinces. Significant positive correlations were observed between concentrations of nicotine and aromatic amines in the dust samples.

Primary aromatic amines in indoor dust from 10 countries and associated human exposure

Sridhar Chinthakindi et al.

Summary: Primary aromatic amines (AAs) and tobacco smoke markers were found to be prevalent in indoor house dust samples from 10 countries, with concentrations varying significantly between countries. Aniline was identified as the most abundant contaminant among AAs, while nicotine was consistently detected in all indoor samples. Concentrations of AAs in house dust were strongly correlated with nicotine levels.
