Water Electrolysis Using a Porous IrO2/Ti/IrO2 Catalyst Electrode and Nafion Membranes at Elevated Temperatures

Je-Deok Kim et al.

Summary: The electrical characteristics of porous IrO2/Ti/IrO2 catalyst electrodes during water electrolysis were investigated, with sample 1 showing higher sheet resistance than samples 2 and 3; the structural stabilities of Nafion and Aquivion membranes up to 150 degrees C were studied, revealing irreversible changes in polymer structure above certain temperatures.

Effect of the IrOx Conductivity on the Anode Electrode/Porous Transport Layer Interfacial Resistance in PEM Water Electrolyzers

M. Bernt et al.

Summary: This study compares the performance of two catalysts in the oxygen evolution reaction, finding that the P2X catalyst shows better performance at lower Ir loading, but requires the use of a platinum-coated porous transport layer. The Benchmark catalyst is unaffected when untreated, while poor performance of MEAs with the P2X catalyst is attributed to low electrical conductivity and passivation of the Ti-PTL at the anode/PTL interface.
