Effect of the initial oxidized status of coal dust on the deflagration severities and flame behaviors of pulverized coal explosion in various methane-air atmospheres

Haitao Li et al.

Summary: This study experimentally investigates the influence of pre-oxidized coal dust on the severity of deflagration and flame behaviors in methane-pulverized coal mixtures. The results show that pre-oxidation of coal dust increases the severity of explosion and prolongs the burning time of the mixtures. It also affects the flame morphology and brightness. Furthermore, pre-oxidized coal dust leads to increased complexity in the structure of solid residues.

Macromorphological features and formation mechanism of particulate residues from methane/air/coal dust gas-solid two-phase hybrid explosions: An approach for material evidence analysis in accident investigation

Haitao Li et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the macromorphological features and formation mechanisms of post-explosion particulate residues from the hybrid explosion of methane/coal dust mixtures. Through experiments and qualitative analysis, the study revealed the morphological characteristics and formation rules of the particulate residues, as well as the correlation between explosion severity and particle residue features.

Efficient syngas production via CO2 reforming and electroreduction reactions through catalyst design

Yingying Chen et al.

Summary: This article analyzes the catalyst design strategies for the reforming of CH4 and electrochemical reduction reaction to produce syngas from CO2. The strategies include improving catalyst properties such as sintering resistance, redox property, basicity, and porosity. The article also compares different design measures for CRR catalysts to increase syngas selectivity. Challenges and future work for these reactions are proposed. The review is timely and useful for advancing these reactions and promoting carbon neutralization.

Permeation-diffusion characteristics and air-leakage blocking mechanism for the fire-extinguishing inorganic gel flows in loose broken coal particles

Haitao Li et al.

Summary: This study explores the impact of grouting pressures on the seepage, diffusion, and filtration of fire-extinguishing inorganic gel in loose broken coal particles. Experimental and numerical modeling results show that increasing grouting pressure significantly increases the diffusion distance and velocity.
