Ecological risk assessment of soils under different wastewater irrigation farming system in Punjab, Pakistan.

Z. Iqbal et al.

Summary: The study assessed the Potential Ecological Risk Index (PERI) of soils in suburban Multan city, Pakistan, and found that soil under industrial effluents had very high ecological risk, while soil under urban sewage had moderate risk, and soil under tube-well and canal water had low risk. Statistical analysis indicated that soil contamination is sourced from wastewater, and proper treatment of wastewater before its use in agricultural farming system may save the health of the ecosystem.

Health Risks Due to Metal Concentrations in Soil and Vegetables from the Six Municipalities of the Island Province in the Philippines

Ronnel C. Nolos et al.

Summary: This study investigated the health risks of metal concentrations in soil and vegetables in an island province in the Philippines, as well as the potential ecological risks. The results showed that most metal concentrations exceeded the safety limits, but the non-carcinogenic risk from vegetable consumption was low. It is recommended to reduce the consumption of certain vegetables to reduce metal exposure. Further research is needed to confirm this recommendation.

Phytotoxic Evaluation of Phytosynthesized Silver Nanoparticles on Lettuce

Murtaza Hasan et al.

Summary: The study found that moderate concentrations of Ag NPs have a stimulatory effect on lettuce plant growth, increasing total phenolic and flavonoid content, and enhancing free radical scavenging activity; however, high concentrations may release silver ions and result in inhibitory effects.
