Intensification methods of supercritical drying for aerogels production

Natalia Menshutina et al.

Summary: The features of the supercritical drying process are examined, and the intensification methods for producing aerogels through supercritical drying are demonstrated. The effects of CO2 supply, process temperature, and CO2 flowrate on the performance of supercritical drying are investigated. Methods are proposed to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide used in one cycle of supercritical drying by 63.4%.

Mesoporous carbon aerogel with tunable porosity as the catalyst support for enhanced proton-exchange membrane fuel cell performance

K. Gu et al.

Summary: Proton-exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) are considered to be one of the most promising clean technologies to mitigate climate change, air pollution, and energy crisis, but they still face challenges such as low current density, high cost, and poor durability. This study introduces a porosity-tunable carbon aerogel (CA) as an alternative to the carbon support in PEMFCs, showing potential in overcoming technical barriers and improving efficiency and durability.
