Exercise oxygen pulse kinetics in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

Massimo Mapelli et al.

Summary: This study found that the abnormal behavior of O-2 pulse during exercise, which is closely related to inadequate SV increase, is associated with reduced functional capacity (peak and anaerobic threshold VO2 and workload) and increased VE/VCO2 slope, identifying more advanced disease in HCM regardless of LVOTO.

Peak oxygen pulse and mortality risk in healthy women and men: The Ball State Adult Fitness Longitudinal Lifestyle Study (BALL ST)

Summary: This study found that peak oxygen pulse is only associated with all-cause mortality in men, not in women, within apparently healthy individuals. Moreover, changes in peak oxygen pulse over time did not predict mortality in either sex.
