Component fraction effect on microstructure and properties of CoFe2O4-K0.5Na0.5NbO3 composites

Chi-Chimg Yeh et al.

Summary: The sintered CFO-KNN composites showed higher relative density when the volume fraction of KNN reached 50% or more. The highest relative density of 94% was obtained with the composites of 80 vol% KNN. Transmission electron microscopy did not observe any secondary phase at the interface between CFO and KNN grains. However, elemental analyses showed traces of interdiffusion of ions within the solubility limit of both lattices without segregation of other phases.

Fabrication and characterisation of 0-3 KNLNTS piezoelectric ceramic/alite calcium sulfoaluminate cement composites

Pithiwat Tiantong et al.

Summary: The objective of this study was to fabricate and investigate new smart composites as sensors and actuators in civil engineering for structural health monitoring. A novel 0-3 piezoelectric composite consisting of (K0.44Na0.52Li0.04) (Nb0.84Ta0.10Sb0.06)O3 (KNLNTS) as the piezoelectric phase and alite calcium sulfoaluminate (ACSA) cement as the matrix phase is presented. The synthesis processes of ACSA cement and KNLNTS ceramics were intensively investigated, and their properties were studied. Moreover, KNLNTS/ACSA cement composites were prepared and their performance and potential applications were investigated.

Effects of synthesis and sintering temperature in BCT-BST ceramics

C. Pavithra et al.

Summary: The morphology and properties of ceramics are greatly influenced by synthesis techniques and sintering temperature. Different synthesis methods result in variations in densification temperature and particle size of BCT-BST ceramics. The dielectric studies reveal interesting findings such as morphotropic phase boundary and high dielectric constant for sol gel synthesized BCT-BST.

Mechanical, dielectric, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties of 0-3 connectivity lead-free piezoelectric ceramic 0.94Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3-0.06BaTiO3/Portland cement composites

R. Rianyoi et al.

Summary: Lead-free piezoelectric ceramic BNT-BT/PC composites were fabricated and investigated for sensor applications in structural health monitoring. The optimal ceramic content for acoustic impedance matching and piezoelectric performance was found to be approximately 40-60 vol.%. The composites showed good compatibility with concrete structures and potential for use as sensors.

Electromechanical properties of barium titanate-polyvinylidene fluoride cement-based composites

Thanyapon Wittinanon et al.

Summary: The study showed that increasing BT and PVDF contents in the composites resulted in decreased impedance and increased electromechanical coupling factor. The composite with 60 vol% BT and 5-7 vol% PVDF had the highest values for k(t) and k(p). No PVDF composite had a higher Q(m) value compared to those with PVDF, with the lowest Q(m) value observed at 3 vol% PVDF with all BT content.

Enhanced electrical properties in W/Cu co-doped CaBi2Nb2O9 high-temperature piezoelectric ceramics

Axiang Chen et al.

Summary: By incorporating W/Cu into CBN-based ceramics, the crystal structure is altered, leading to enhanced piezoelectricity and resistivity. The ceramic with the composition CaBi2Nb1.96(W3/4Cu1/4)(0.04)O-9 exhibits excellent performance with high d(33) and T-C values.
