Geochronology, geochemistry and tectonic implications of early Carboniferous plutons in the southwestern Alxa Block

Zeng-Zhen Wang et al.

Summary: The study of three early Carboniferous granitic plutons in the southwestern Alxa Block revealed the presence of two newly identified aluminous A-type granites with different Sr-Nd isotopic features, potentially derived from partial melting of Precambrian continental crustal sources. These plutons were likely formed in a lithospheric extensional setting heated by upwelling asthenosphere.

Early-Middle Permian plutons in the Langshan area, western Inner Mongolia, China, and their tectonic implications

Summary: Understanding whether the southward subduction of the Paleo-Asian Ocean beneath the northern North China Craton was still ongoing during the Permian is crucial for the tectonic evolution of the southeastern Central Asian Orogenic Belt. The Early-Middle Permian plutons in the study area indicate a uniform extensional setting, which is important for geological studies.
