Hydrothermal analysis of ethylene glycol nanofluid in a porous enclosure with complex snowflake shaped inner wall

A. K. Rostami et al.

Summary: This article simulates convective heat transfer of Al2O3 - ethylene glycol nanofluid in a porous medium under the influence of magnetic forces. The Boussinesq-Darcy law and thermal non-equilibrium model are applied, and the two-temperature model is utilized. The effects of Hartmann number, Rayleigh number, porosity, and volume fraction of the nanoparticle are investigated. The results show that the stream line is enhanced with the increase of Rayleigh number, but it decreases with the increase of Hartmann number and nanoparticle volume fraction. Additionally, the local Nusselt number is directly related to the nanoparticle volume fraction and Rayleigh number, but inversely related to the Hartmann number.

Dibyendu Ghosh et al.

Summary: This study investigates the thermal energy transport of ferrofluid in a parallel-plate channel under a constant magnetic field, revealing an increase in local temperature with the strength of the applied magnetic field. By simplifying the governing equations and considering different thermal boundary conditions, closed-form solutions of temperature profiles and Nusselt numbers are obtained. The effects of particle loading, Brinkman number, and heat flux ratio on the temperature field are also discussed.

Analysis of heat transfer transition of thermally driven flow within a square enclosure under effects of inclined magnetic field

Chuan-Chieh Liao et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the numerical analysis of natural convection induced by thermally driven flow under the influence of a slanted magnetic field, considering various parameters such as Rayleigh number, Hartmann number, and oblique angles of the magnetic field. The results show that the direction of the magnetic field significantly affects the streamlines and isotherms, with the average Nusselt number and maximum streamline function decreasing with the intensity of the magnetic field. Additionally, four heat transfer patterns are identified based on the curves of normalized Nusselt number with the oblique angle of the magnetic field.

Hydrothermal analysis on non-Newtonian nanofluid flow of blood through porous vessels

S. Hosseinzadeh et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the flow of non-Newtonian blood fluid with nanoparticles inside a vessel with a porous wall in the presence of a magnetic field. Various parameters such as magnetic field and porosity are studied to analyze their effects on velocity, temperature, and concentration profiles. Three different viscosity models are employed for innovation. The governing equations are solved using Akbari-Ganji's Method (AGM) analytical method, and the Finite Element Method (FEM) is used for better representation. The results demonstrate that the increase in Gr number, porosity, and negative pressure leads to higher blood velocity, while an increase in magnetic field intensity decreases the blood velocity.

Magnetic field effects on melting and solidification of PCMs in an isosceles triangular cavity

Zoubida Haddad et al.

Summary: The study examines the effects of a magnetic field on melting and solidification processes in an isosceles triangular cavity using numerical methods. Results show that the direction of the magnetic field significantly impacts fluid flow stability, with longer melting times observed when the field is horizontal or vertical. Additionally, the influence of the magnetic field peaks during an intermediate stage of melting, while solidification is independent of magnetic field direction and magnitude.

Summary: This study investigates the thermal performance of a moving porous fin wetted with hybrid nanofluid with different cross-sections in the presence of a magnetic field. Three different cross-sections (trapezoidal, concave parabolic, and convex) are used as an innovation. The impact of various characteristics on the dimensionless temperature is thoroughly examined, and the results show that Akbari-Ganji's method has good accuracy in solving heat transfer equations related to moving porous fin.

Nanoparticles transportation with turbulent regime through a solar collector with helical tapes

M. Sheikholeslami et al.

Summary: This study proposes the use of hybrid nanomaterials, including fin and helical turbulator, to enhance the efficiency of the absorber unit. The results of numerical simulations show that increasing the diameter of circular gaps facilitates fluid movement, reduces pressure loss, and improves the mixing of hot and cold fluids. As the pitch factor decreases, the rotation of helical tapes increases, leading to an increase in the number of circular gaps. The temperature of the absorber plate decreases with increasing Reynolds number, while it increases with the augmentation of the diameter of circular gaps and the pitch factor.

Lioua Kolsi et al.

Summary: This study numerically analyzed the separated flow and thermal performance characteristics in a bifurcating channel by combining surface corrugation, partially active magnetic field, nanoparticle loading in the base fluid, and flow pulsations. It was found that the highest heat transfer improvement was achieved by using corrugations, followed by flow pulsations and magnetic field. The utilization of nanofluids further enhanced the thermal performance.

Summary: In this study, the thermal treatment of Linear Fresnel Reflector (LFR) unit was enhanced by the application of multi-way twisted tape (MWTT). Finite volume simulations were used to predict the flow and thermal performance, and SolTrace and ANSYS FLUET were used to extract the distribution of absorb flux. The results showed that the rotation, width, and number of wings of the twisted tape significantly affected the fluid flow and thermal efficiency.
