Viral hepatitis: Innovations and expectations

Simona Leoni et al.

Summary: Viral hepatitis is a major global health problem, and the focus of treatment is to prevent chronic liver disease and complications. There are currently various therapies available, particularly for hepatitis B and C. New drugs have shown significant efficacy in clinical practice and trials, with the goal of eliminating hepatitis C by 2030. There is also renewed interest in curing hepatitis B, as current drugs have positive impacts on liver-related complications and are highly safe and tolerable. Progress has been made in the treatment of hepatitis D, but further research is needed for hepatitis E, especially in immunosuppressed patients.

Sleep and liver disease: a bidirectional relationship

Thomas Marfot et al.

Summary: Sleep is crucial for human health, and its disturbance is related to chronic liver disease. Patients with cirrhosis often experience sleep abnormalities, impacting their quality of life and physical health. Research has shown a vicious cycle between disrupted sleep and liver disease progression.

A multimodal analysis of physical activity, sleep, and work shift in nurses with wearable sensor data

Summary: Night shift nurses are more sedentary, report lower levels of life satisfaction, and poorer sleep quality compared to day-shift nurses. These differences may be correlated with challenges in falling asleep on off-days.
