Studies of structural, ferroelectric, magnetic and electrical characteristics of Bi(Fe1-xNdx)O3 (x=0.05, 0.10, 0.15) multiferroics

Nripesh Kumar et al.

Summary: The effect of neodymium (Nd) modification on bismuth ferrite ceramics has been studied, leading to changes in structural, dielectric, ferroelectric, magnetic, and electrical characteristics. Structural modification from rhombohedral to orthorhombic symmetry was observed, along with the presence of non-Debye relaxation processes. The doping of donor ions increased resistivity, showing semiconductor characteristics and weak ferromagnetism.

Summary: This study reports on the Raman spectroscopy and photoluminescence spectra of Nd- and W-doped BaTiO3 ceramics prepared using the molten-salt method. The incorporation of Nd3+ and W6+ ions into the BT lattice was analyzed, with a focus on their effects on the Ti and Ba sites. The abnormal Raman signals observed were attributed to a fluorescent effect from Ba-site Nd3+ ions, with intense fluorescent signals overwhelming the traditional Raman spectra.

Summary: Ferroelectric materials, such as lead-free BaTi0.91Sn0.09O3 ceramic, are widely used in sensors, transducers, and health monitoring systems due to their multi-physical coupling ability for energy harvesting applications. The structural information of the sample was determined using X-ray diffraction data and Raman spectra, showing ferroelectric behavior in relaxation. The sample exhibited a recovered energy density of 48.18 mJ/cm(3) and an energy efficiency of 41%, making it suitable for energy conversion applications.
