Colorimetric sensor based on hydrazine moiety for rapid and selective detection of fluoride ion via intramolecular charge transfer

Summary: A new colorimetric anion sensor ATH was synthesized and confirmed, which showed high selectivity for detecting fluoride ions and responded to fluoride ion stimulation through deprotonation and intramolecular charge transfer sensing mechanism. The sensing mechanism of fluoride ions was confirmed and the binding constant and binding ratio between fluoride ions and probe ATH were determined.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized two coordination-driven metal-lacycles through subtle structure modifications, with the dianthracene-containing hexagon demonstrating mechanochromic and vapochromic characteristics while the monoanthracene-containing hexagon did not. Further investigation indicated that changes in the molecular stacking structure played a key role in the observed behavioral differences.

Summary: RhB, a fluorimetric sensor based on the rhodamine moiety, shows selective and sensitive sensing towards Hg2+. It forms a rapid 1:1 stoichiometric irreversible reaction with Hg2+ through coordination bonds. The selective sensing of Hg2+ is achieved by the spirolactam ring opening followed by the formation of suitable coordinate geometry in RhB.
