Contact-electro-catalysis for the degradation of organic pollutants using pristine dielectric powders

Ziming Wang et al.

Summary: Research has shown that electrons transferred through contact-electrification can be used for catalyzing reactions without conventional catalysts. This new catalytic principle, termed contact-electro-catalysis, has been proven effective for various dielectric materials, such as Teflon, Nylon-6,6, and rubber. This expands the range of catalytic materials and offers a new approach for catalytic processes through mechano-induced contact-electrification.

Improving Degradation Efficiency of Organic Pollutants through a Self-Powered Alternating Current Electrocoagulation System

Linglin Zhou et al.

Summary: This study proposes a self-powered electrocoagulation system based on a triboelectric nanogenerator with AC outputs to enhance organic pollutant removal efficiency by addressing energy consumption and electrode passivation issues. By reducing the frequency of the AC power source, removal efficiency is significantly improved, particularly under simulated ocean wave frequencies. This innovative approach shows promise in promoting the application of self-powered electrochemical systems for environmental pollution treatment.

Metal-organic framework-based sorbents in analytical sample preparation

Maryam Bazargan et al.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are considered as an important material class in analytical applications due to their unique properties. The current limitation of MOFs in separation field lies in their chemical and thermal stabilities, which can be enhanced by ligand modification or cooperative combination with other materials. The role and applications of MOFs as sorbents in sample preparation have been widely studied, offering new solutions for future analytical sample preparation problems.

Programmable Logic in Metal-Organic Frameworks for Catalysis

Yu Shen et al.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are widely studied in catalysis due to their flexible components, high surface area, and uniform active sites. However, the complex structures of MOFs pose challenges for researchers in selecting suitable catalysts. A programmable design strategy based on metal ions, organic ligands, modifiers, and post-treatment modules is proposed to design MOF catalysts for various reactions, enabling precise construction and regulation of their microenvironments for heterogeneous catalysis, electrocatalysis, and photocatalysis. This modular design concept offers a potent tool for exploring structure-activity relationships and accelerating the tailored design of multicomponent catalysts.
