Modulation of Metallophilic and π-π Interactions in Platinum Cyclometalated Luminophores with Halogen Bonding

Vasily Sivchik et al.

Summary: The luminescent cyclometalated complexes decorated with cyanide ligand can serve as nucleophilic building blocks for halogen-bonded adducts, with noncovalent interactions playing a key role in their photoluminescent properties and excited states. The degree of aggregation via metal-metal interactions determines the optoelectronic properties and photoemissive characteristics of the crystalline materials.

High-Purity and Saturated Deep-Blue Luminescence from trans-NHC Platinum(II) Butadiyne Complexes: Properties and Organic Light Emitting Diode Application

Ru He et al.

Summary: Two new platinum(II) compounds exhibit sharp blue-green or saturated deep-blue phosphorescence with high color purity. The compounds show a distinct 0-0 band dominant in their photoluminescence, with weaker vibronic progressions. When used as emitters in OLEDs, the compounds can achieve electroluminescence that closely matches their photoluminescence.

Blue Emissive fac/mer-Iridium (III) NHC Carbene Complexes and their Application in OLEDs

Muazzam Idris et al.

Summary: The photophysical and electrochemical properties of N-heterocyclic carbene complexes of Iridium (III) were studied, showing differences in emission maxima and quantum yield in different solvents. The complexes exhibited efficient emission in polystyrene at room temperature and low temperatures. Notably, fac-Ir(tpz)(3) showed high external electroluminescence efficiency and brightness in blue phosphorescent organic light emitting diodes.

Aggregation and Supramolecular Self-Assembly of Low-Energy Red Luminescent Alkynylplatinum(II) Complexes for RNA Detection, Nucleolus Imaging, and RNA Synthesis Inhibitor Screening

Angela Sin-Yee Law et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel luminescence assay based on platinum(II) complexes was introduced to detect RNA and achieve nucleolus imaging. The noncovalent interactions between platinum(II) complexes and RNA were induced by introducing a guanidinium group, resulting in strong RNA affinity and remarkable luminescence turnon. The unique properties of platinum(II) complexes, including low-energy red luminescence and large Stokes shifts, make them promising for nucleolus imaging with high signal-to-background ratios and potential biological applications.

Ligand-to-Metal Charge-Transfer Photophysics and Photochemistry of Emissive d0 Titanocenes: A Spectroscopic and Computational Investigation

Henry C. London et al.

Summary: The study investigates the photochemistry and photophysics of d(0) titanocenes, which are a new design for photocatalysts with ligand-to-metal charge-transfer (LMCT) excited states. These complexes exhibit bright emission at 77 K but photodecompose at room temperature when irradiated into their lowest-energy absorption band. Computational analysis suggests that emission occurs from a 3LMCT state, and optimization of this state demonstrates compression of the C-Ti-C bond angle, consistent with known products of photodecomposition.
