Codebook-Based Beam Tracking for Conformal Array-Enabled UAV mmWave Networks

Summary: A new mmWave beam tracking framework is proposed for the CA-enabled UAV mmWave network, with a specialized hierarchical codebook driving the directional radiating element (DRE)-covered cylindrical CA for full spatial coverage and agile beam tracking. Additionally, a codebook-based multiuser beam tracking scheme is introduced, incorporating Gaussian process machine learning-enabled UAV position/attitude prediction to enhance beam tracking efficiency.

Multi-UAV Deployment for Throughput Maximization in the Presence of Co-Channel Interference

Summary: This article proposes a 3-D multi-UAV deployment approach to meet Quality-of-Service requirements for different types of user distributions and maximize the minimum achievable system throughput for ground users. The approach consists of two separate algorithms to find optimal xy coordinates for UAVs based on user density, schedule users, optimize UAV altitudes and transmit powers, and ensure algorithm convergence. Numerical experiments demonstrate the superiority of this technique over conventional benchmarks.
