Analysis of Bipolar Integrated Circuit Degradation Mechanisms Against Combined TID-DD Effects

Rudy Ferraro et al.

Summary: This study uses circuit simulations based on experimental data to investigate the degradation mechanisms induced by combined TID and DD effects on a bipolar IC current source. The results show a synergistic interaction between current leakage induced by DD and gain degradation of a current mirror induced by both TID and DD is responsible for the combined TID-DD response. Additionally, the rate of circuit degradation depends on the DDD/TID rate ratios encountered during exposure.

Comparison of the Total Ionizing Dose Sensitivity of a System in Package Point of Load Converter Using Both Component- and System-Level Test Approaches

Tomasz Rajkowski et al.

Summary: Testing at system level assesses the sensitivity of PoL converter parameters to TID irradiations, and shows that the system can operate at TID levels more than two times higher than the qualification level obtained using a component-level approach. Internal compensation in the system is found to increase TID tolerance during system-level testing. The advantages and shortcomings of testing at system level are also discussed.
