A lane-changing risk profile analysis method based on time-series clustering

Tianyi Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigates the risk profile during the lane-changing (LC) process using a risk indicator based on driving safety field theory and Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) k-means clustering method. It categorizes LC risk profiles into uphill shape, bell shape, and downhill shape, with uphill shape being the most common and having a higher risk. The study also finds that the risk during LC process is more relevant to the crash risk between the LC car and its preceding cars.
