Efficacy and Safety of a Surgeon-Performed Laparoscopic-Guided, 4-point Transversus Abdominis Plane Block: A retrospective review

Summary: This retrospective study demonstrated the safety and efficacy of surgeon-performed, laparoscopically guided transversus abdominis plane (TAP) blocks for robot-assisted gynecologic procedures in a cohort of 116 patients. The study showed that TAP blocks performed by the surgeon are a safe and effective intervention to reduce postoperative pain and may contribute to enhanced recovery protocols.

Laparoscopic versus ultrasound-guided visualization of transversus abdominis plane blocks

Summary: The study found that laparoscopic-guided TAP blocks are as effective as ultrasound-guided TAP blocks in managing postoperative pain in pediatric patients. The laparoscopic blocks were completed faster and may lead to less operating room and general anesthetic time for the pediatric patient.
