SWinvert: a workflow for performing rigorous 1-D surface wave inversions

Joseph P. Vantassel et al.

Summary: SWinvert is a workflow developed at The University of Texas at Austin for surface wave dispersion data inversion, providing a systematic procedure and specific recommendations to address uncertainty and non-uniqueness in shear wave velocity (Vs). It uses multiple layering parametrizations, global searches, and quantifies Vs uncertainty. The workflow also includes open-source Python packages for pre- and post-processing data and an application for batch-style inversions using high-performance computing.

Optimized workflows for high-frequency seismic interferometry using dense arrays

Y. Xu et al.

Summary: High-frequency seismic surface waves can sample subsurface materials from the top few tens of meters to the top few kilometers, while passive seismic imaging using ambient noise can be an effective tool for exploring mineral, geothermal, and other resources. A new workflow has been developed for measuring high-frequency surface wave phase velocities, extending the bandwidth of reliable measurements and improving accuracy. This method provides valuable structural information for better understanding underground geology and mineral exploration.
