Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

TAM-derived extracellular vesicles containing microRNA-29a-3p explain the deterioration of ovarian cancer

Lili Lu et al.

Summary: This study elucidated the role of TAM-derived exosomal miR-29a-3p in ovarian cancer (OC). The findings demonstrated that TAM-EVs enhanced OC cell proliferation through the FOXO3-AKT/GSK313 pathway and upregulation of PD-L1 expression, facilitating tumor immune escape.

Tumor suppressor miR-192-5p targets TRPM7 and inhibits proliferation and invasion in cervical cancer

Ruo-Fan Dong et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that miR-192-5p inhibits proliferation and induces apoptosis in cervical cancer cells, as well as suppresses migration and invasion by targeting TRPM7. This suggests a potential therapeutic target for treating cervical cancer.

Inexpensive Systemic Inflammatory Biomarkers in Ovarian Cancer: An Umbrella Systematic Review of 17 Prognostic Meta-Analyses

Khalid El Bairi et al.

Summary: The umbrella systematic review assessed 17 meta-analyses on the association between biomarkers and epithelial ovarian cancer outcomes, showing that high NLR and PLR, as well as low LMR, are independent predictors of poor prognosis. Most studies were conducted by Chinese researchers, highlighting issues of low quality and lacking critical domains.
