Development of MoS2/O-MWCNTs/PES blended membrane for efficient removal of dyes, antibiotic, and protein

Samira Arefi-Oskoui et al.

Summary: In this study, a nanocomposite of MoS2 nanosheets and oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (O-MWCNTs) was synthesized and used as a nanoadditive to improve the polyethersulfone (PES) polymeric membrane. The synthesized nanocomposite was characterized using SEM, energy dispersive X-Ray dot mapping, and X-ray diffraction analysis. Blended membranes with different amounts of nanocomposite showed enhanced permeability and pollutants removal, with improved hydrophilicity of the PES membrane in the presence of nanocomposite. The modified membrane exhibited stability and promising application potential in treating textile and industrial wastewaters.

Combustion characteristics of a single droplet of hydroprocessed vegetable oil blended with aluminum nanoparticles in a drop tube furnace

Ines A. S. Ferrao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of adding aluminum nanoparticles of different sizes and concentrations to biofuel on combustion characteristics. Results show that the addition of nanoparticles enhances the combustion characteristics of pure biofuel, with a slight increase in burning rate observed with smaller particle sizes and a pronounced increase with higher concentrations.

Experimental investigations on diesel engine using alumina nanoparticle fuel additive

Mohammed S. Gad et al.

Summary: Experimental work showed that adding 40 ppm alumina nanoparticles to diesel fuel can enhance thermal efficiency, reduce specific fuel consumption, and decrease emissions of smoke, HC, CO, and NOX. The addition of nanoparticles also improved fuel stability and prevented atomization problems and injector clogging.

Combustion of a dilute carbon black/ethanol nanofuel droplet in elevated pressure conditions

Jaewon Choi et al.

Summary: In this study, combustion of carbon black/ethanol nanofuel droplet was conducted at elevated temperature and pressure. Different stages of droplet combustion process were observed, including droplet heating, classical combustion, and carbon black combustion. Increase in ambient pressure led to delayed ignition and higher burning rate. Rise of carbon black concentration did not significantly affect ignition delay, but increased burning rate, especially under high pressure conditions.

Nanoscale morphology of thin liquid films near the advancing contact line during condensation

Abbasali Abouei Mehrizi et al.

Summary: The extended thin-film region adjacent to the contact line plays a crucial role in heat transfer and wetting dynamics by enhancing heat transfer and influencing contact line morphology. The study focused on advancing contact line morphology induced by water vapor condensation at low rates. Results showed that the morphology of the liquid film in this process differs from nonvolatile cases, with a precursor nanofilm and nanodroplets detected beyond the contact line.

Analysis of surface tension for nano-fuels containing disparate types of suspended nanoparticles

Deqing Mei et al.

Summary: Nano-fuel, with higher surface tension compared to diesel, is significantly influenced by mass concentration and particle size, while the surface tension decreases linearly with temperature increasing. Among CNT, CeO2, and Co3O4 nano-fuels, CNT nano-fuels exhibit the highest surface tension.
