Efficacy of chemical factors on production and extraction of biodiesel by microalgae

V. Ananthi et al.

Summary: The search for alternative fuels like biodiesel is driven by environmental factors and cost effectiveness, with microalgae growth and lipid production being influenced by nutrient factors and deprivation of vital chemicals. Various pretreatment methods are utilized to enhance oil extraction from microalgae, with chemical methods being advantageous in terms of energy and time consumption. Combinatorial approaches like thermochemical and microwave-assisted extraction methods are successful in feasible energy production within limited time. Genetic engineered microbes have been developed to withstand suitable pretreatment methods in the production of microalgal biodiesel.
