Effect of phenolic antioxidants on the thermal oxidation stability of high-energy-density fuel

Tinghao Jia et al.

Summary: This study investigated the inhibition effect of phenolic antioxidants on thermal oxidation and deposition of jet fuel, revealing that TBDP and TBMP performed better in antioxidant activity by scavenging more radicals. However, the formation of dimer products during short-term thermal stress led to more severe deposits when phenolic antioxidants were added, especially when jet fuel served as a cooling agent in aircrafts.

Thermal oxidation deposition characteristics of RP-3 kerosene in serpentine tubes under supercritical pressure

Zhixiong Han et al.

Summary: This study compared the deposition and heat transfer behaviors in straight tube and serpentine tubes, and analyzed the deposition characteristics in 4-Bend serpentine tubes at different conditions. The results showed that the application of serpentine tubes effectively inhibited deposition and enhanced heat transfer. The deposition amount was significantly lower in serpentine tubes compared to straight tubes, and the deposition rate peaked at the bending section. Fuel temperature, mass flow rate, and system pressure all influenced the deposition distribution and morphology.

Mechanistic insights into the thermal oxidative deposition of C10 hydrocarbon fuels

Tinghao Jia et al.

Summary: The oxidation stability and deposition propensity of C10 hydrocarbon fuels are influenced by the molecular structure and C-H bond dissociation enthalpy. Among the hydrocarbons studied, n-decane demonstrates the highest oxidation stability, while trans-decalin shows the highest deposition propensity.

ReaxFF molecular dynamics study on pyrolysis of bicyclic compounds for aviation fuel

Aditya Lele et al.

Summary: This study investigates the initial fuel pyrolysis of four bicyclic compounds using ReaxFF force field based molecular dynamics simulations. The bicyclic fuels have faster or comparable decomposition rates compared to existing jet-fuels. The decomposition pathways involve central bond cleavage and ring opening, with significant temperature dependence.

Review on the Relationship Between Liquid Aerospace Fuel Composition and Their Physicochemical Properties

Xiaoyu Wang et al.

Summary: The development of advanced air transportation has led to new demands for high-performance liquid hydrocarbon fuels, necessitating a thorough investigation of the relationship between fuel properties and composition. Researchers have examined the effects of fuel composition and hydrocarbon molecular structure on physicochemical properties, with the coupling of hydrogen/carbon molar ratios and molecular weight playing a crucial role in predicting density, NHOC, viscosity, and other fuel properties.
