Nanospace Engineering of Triazine-Thiophene-Intertwined Porous-Organic-Polymers via Molecular Expansion in Tweaking CO2 Capture

Nitumani Das et al.

Summary: In this study, triazine-thiophene (Tt) groups were successfully introduced into the nanoporous organic polymer (POP) skeleton, resulting in the synthesis of Tt-POP-1, Tt-POP-2, and Tt-POP-3 with different morphologies. The Tt-POP-2 exhibited enhanced CO2 uptake capacity compared to the other two materials, and density functional theory calculations indicated that the benzyl rings in Tt-POP-2 played a key role in CO2 adsorption.

A review on application of activated carbons for carbon dioxide capture: present performance, preparation, and surface modification for further improvement

Ammar Ali Abd et al.

Summary: The focus of this review is on the adsorption properties of activated carbons towards CO2 and related research. Studies have shown that the adsorption efficiency of activated carbons is influenced by pore size/shape and surface chemistry, with surface modifications such as NH3, amines, and metal oxides enhancing CO2 adsorption performance. Additionally, the adsorption performance of activated carbons under humid conditions is also highlighted.

Significance of re-engineered zeolites in climate mitigation - A review for carbon capture and separation

Satyaki Chatterjee et al.

Summary: In the context of modern science, there is a growing interest in the creation of novel porous materials capable of acting as sorbefacients for small gas molecules. Zeolite, due to its high porosity, ultra-small pores, structural diversity, high stability, and excellent recyclability, has been identified as a potential prototype for CO2 sorption. Researchers are focusing on re-engineering zeolites for selective CO2 capture and storage, with progress indicating fast removal of CO2 and potential for further improvement in scalability, energy efficiency, and time efficiency.
