Alloying Nickel with Molybdenum Significantly Accelerates Alkaline Hydrogen Electrocatalysis

Miao Wang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that alloying Ni with Mo significantly enhances its bifunctional hydrogen electrocatalysis performance in alkaline solution, leading to Ni4Mo alloy nanoparticles with superior hydrogen-oxidation and hydrogen-evolution activities. The experimental data are supported by theoretical simulations showing that Ni-Mo alloying weakens hydrogen adsorption, enhances hydroxyl adsorption, and reduces the reaction barrier for water formation.

Bimetal Organic Framework Derived Atomically Dispersed Mn and N Codoped Porous Carbon for Efficient Oxygen Reduction

Yanan Yang et al.

Summary: The development of cost-effective non-precious metal electrocatalysts for the sluggish oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is crucial for the widespread application of metal-air battery and fuel cell technologies. In this study, an efficient manganese (Mn) and nitrogen (N) co-doped porous carbon electrocatalyst with atomically dispersed N-coordinated single Mn moieties (Mn-N-x) has been synthesized using a Mn/Zn bimetal organic frameworks (MOFs)-based strategy, showing superior ORR activity and electrochemical durability compared to commercial Pt/C, as well as excellent performance in a primary Zn-air battery assembly.
