Marcus Y. L. Chiu et al.

Summary: This study examined the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of family carers of older adults. The prevalence of anxiety and depression symptoms was found to be high, with working carers being more depressed and younger carers reporting more anxiety and depression symptoms. Hand hygiene and healthy lifestyle were found to affect depression, while perceived risk and worry of infection predicted anxiety.

The Psychological Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic and Lockdown on Caregivers of People With Dementia

Manuela Altieri et al.

Summary: The study found that the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown measures had psychological consequences for caregivers of people with dementia, leading to increased levels of depression. High resilience was negatively associated with anxiety levels but had no effect on depressive symptoms during the lockdown, and was also linked to lower levels of caregiver burden.

The Joint Crisis Plan: A Powerful Tool to Promote Mental Health

Pierre Lequin et al.

Summary: The study describes the content and perception of Joint Crisis Plans (JCPs) among patients and providers, highlighting their usefulness but also the limitations such as lack of staff training, difficulties with the shared decision-making process, and poor availability of JCPs when needed. Promising results support the wide use of JCPs with patients who have experienced crises, and further research including family members is important.
