Cortical and thalamic hyper-perfusion in non-convulsive status epilepticus. Relationship between perfusion CT patterns and Salzburg EEG criteria

Giada Giovannini et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated the potential of cerebral perfusion-computed tomography (PCT) in aiding the differential diagnosis of Nonconvulsive Status Epilepticus (NCSE) during emergency situations. Specifically, the presence of cortical multi-lobar hyper-perfusion, combined with homolateral thalamic hyper-perfusion, was found to be highly suggestive for the presence of NCSE with continuous/sustained ictal patterns.
